The Whitefish Bay Public Library is seeking a part-time Reference Assistant to primarily serve in the Youth Services Department, with the flexibility to assist in the Adult Services Department as needed.

The Library is seeking a team member who is:
Service-oriented and enjoys providing exceptional customer service to people of all ages, especially children, teens, parents, and caregivers.
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking while maintaining a calm demeanor.
Able to work independently and stay productive during quieter times.
Collaborative and enjoys being part of a team.
Tech-savvy, shown by effectively using technology to enhance programming and customer service through the adoption of new tools and staying updated on tech trends.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience working with children and/or teens
Essential Duties:
Staff the Youth Services desk and assist patrons in-person, by phone, and via email, including offering reader's advisory.
Assist with programming for children and teens, including storytime.
Instruct patrons on the use of CountyCat, online databases, digital content, and more.
Monitor the computers and help patrons with basic questions.
Assist with selecting, cataloging, and processing materials for children and teens.
Assist with creation of displays, brochures, and guides.
Hours, Wages, Benefits:
Typically 15 hours per week (M-F), plus one weekend per month (Sat-Sun). Evenings and weekends required.
$16.75/hour. No benefits.
Wisconsin Library Association membership provided, plus a culture that supports continuing education for all staff.
Standard 6-month probationary period applies; 1-month probationary period for current staff who move into new position.
