About the Whitefish Bay Public Library Foundation
Established in 2021, the Whitefish Bay Public Library Foundation (Foundation) mobilizes private support for the Library.
The Foundation established an investment fund, at Greater Milwaukee Foundation (GMF), for the purpose of enhancing the Library’s offerings beyond what can be provided through taxes or other usual revenue sources. As a brand new Foundation, we are currently planning for future fundraising activities to grow the fund. In future years, the Foundation will disburse a portion of the fund’s earned interest for such purposes as the purchase of supplemental materials to enhance or expand: the library collection; special programs, performances or lectures; technology; and services.

Whitefish Bay Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Whitefish Bay Public Library
The Whitefish Bay Public Library is lucky to be supported by two 501(c)(3) organizations that raise funds for the library. Their generosity enables the library to offer services beyond what is supported by the operating budget.
Foundation funds are raised via donation and will he invested on a long-term basis through the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. The goal is to maintain the endowment’s principal and annually utilize portion of the fund’s earned interest to support the Library.
Friends for the Whitefish Bay Public Library (Friends) raise funds primarily through book sales and membership dues, enabling them to support the library annually. Funds from Friends are used for programming and special projects, with yearly levels determined by the prior year’s revenue.
The Whitefish Bay Public Library is grateful to Friends and to the Foundation for their support. We are able to make a difference in people’s lives every day thanks to their support, coupled with the support of our local taxpayers.
