Tristin McCreight, Reference Assistant

Hi! I'm Tristin and I started working at the Whitefish Bay Library in late 2024 as a Reference Assistant for the Youth Services Department. My favorite part of this job is the Arts and Crafts programs and helping answer questions from our youngest patrons. I have lived in the Northshore area for most of my life, and recently moved back here after completing my undergrad which is a B.A. in Government and International Politics, and I am currently pursing a dual masters at UWM for Urban Planning and Public Administration. I am an avid reader who loves reading romance, fiction, and short story collections. Besides reading, I love to be in nature either hiking or taking photos and discovering new music.

Severance

This is the book that got me back into reading, and made me see reading as a hobby and much more than school work. It centers around Candance Chen and follows her daily routine that is disrupted due to a pandemic leading her to document like in abandon city to joining a group of survivors. A story that weaves her family story to her life and relationships as an adult.

Beach Read

A great romance writer with many book to pick from, with Beach Read being one of my personal favorites. Both characters are authors, challenging one another to write in the other's preferred genre while living next to each other for the summer. Both are polar opposites from each other not just in genres but in personalities too. A great introduction into Emily Henry's catalogue.

Every Summer After

If you are a fan of chapters that jump between time and is a slow burn between two characters this might be the book for you. Follows Percy and Sam, plus there families, for five summers they were attached to the hip and then in one moment no longer. Percy is brought back to her summer lake cabin for a weekend. A moving story told over time and how relationships grow and change of the years and how they always will impact us.

Perks of Being a Wallflower

A coming of age novel set in the early 1990s. This story is a series of letters written by Charlie during his freshman year of high school. When reading the letters we learn more about his childhood, family, friends, interpersonal relationships, and more. A vulnerable novel that touches upon many themes still prevalent today.

The first installment in this book series, originally written in Japanese. This coffee shop has the unique ability to allow customers to travel back in time, with some rules. This book follows four different people and there reasonings for why and who they want to visit on their journey. A moving book that brings up the different interpersonal relationships people face.
