Two-Sentence Horror Story Contest

Congratulations to the winners of our 2-Sentence Horror Story Contest:

1st Place, Ben T.- The flicker of light and rays of warmth helped cut through the cold autumn air. Gradually the pops and crackle of the fire merged with screams as the flames reached the base of the stake and began to climb up the “witch’s” legs.

2nd Place, Haylee A.- Even with a pit in his stomach and hunger pains consuming his mind, the man paused to thank his friend for the generous meal. He would save the hands that helped him for last.

3rd Place, Chris C.- As they stood in front of all their friends and family, Reggie turned to his new bride, Gina, and said, “I swear that I’ll never leave you, no matter what happens.” Six months later, when Gina passed away suddenly, Reggie wept over her coffin in her family’s mausoleum, until he heard Gina’s father’s voice behind him, saying, “Now you must keep your promise,” right before the door of the crypt slammed shut.

It was a dark and stormy night when the library decided to host our third annual 2-Sentence Horror Story Contest! What is a 2-Sentence Horror Story? It is just like it sounds, it is a scary story told in only two sentences. Here are some examples:

The grinning face stared at me from the darkness beyond my bedroom window. I live on the 14th floor.

They delivered the mannequins in bubble wrap. From the main room I begin to hear popping.
